A national teleconference on women, girls and their well-being was held to explore what progress had been made in the year since the United Nations Conference on Women in Beijing. The first lady and others discussed topics such as health, economic opportunity, education and human rights. Ms. Woodruff was moderator. Women participated from the audience and by telephone, fax and electronically. The President’s Interagency Council on Women was established to follow up on the United Nations Conference on Women last year. close
