Professor Gerald Gunther, author of Learned Hand: The Man and the Judge, spoke about the life of the former federal appeals court judge. The book is based on the judge’s private papers. Professor Gunther explored the ties between Judge Hand’s style of judging the 1930s and 1940s and today’s approach to judging. Judge Hand served on the federal bench for almost 40 years, one of the longest tenures of any 20th century federal judge. close
