Current news events and political issues were examined through reviews of the morning newspapers; interviews with journalists, newsmakers and legislators; and viewer telephone calls, faxes and electronic mail. Several newspaper editors explained why their newspapers had endorsed either President Clinton, Bob Dole or Ross Perot. Bob Zelnick, ABC News Washington Correspondent talked about the presidential race tightening up because "voters come home". Bob Beckel, Chairman of the 1984 Mondale campaign was amazed at the consistency of the news paper articles. James Lake, 1980 & 1984 Reagan Campaigns Press Secretary said he has never seen such weak or non existent support for a presidential candidate, especially an incumbent president from the news papers before. close
