EPA officials released a report air quality trends over the past ten years. It cited a 78 percent reduction in lead and a 37 percent reduction in sulfur dioxide concentrations as the two greatest reductions of major air pollutants. They also stressed that the report shows that economic growth and environmental protection are not mutually exclusive goals. However, the officials also stressed that much more remains to be done to ensure better air quality for all citizens. Many of the questions focused on new regulations released in November to accomplish this goal in large cities. close
