Ambassador Nitze is a long-time State Department official, former Navy Secretary and Deputy Defense Secretary. He retired in 1989 and is now diplomat-in-residence at Johns Hopkins University’s Nitze School of Advanced International Studies. The ambassador’s contributions to U.S. diplomacy and influence on policy were praised. His 90th birthday was commemorated with a forum covering many aspects of foreign policy. Following their prepared remarks, they took questions from the audience. close
