Myrlie Evers- Williams spoke as part of a program to celebrate the birthday of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. She urged the audience of students to honor King’s memory by utilizing the holiday to debate the racial problems in the U.S. She also shared her own experiences during the civil rights struggle. She emphasized that the U.S. is at a crossroads in its attitudes toward civil rights minorities and leaders must arise and combat those who wish to turn back the legacy of Rev. King. close
