He focused on how he grew up surrounded by the notion of racial equality and a colorblind society and how he became disillusioned with these ideas as he was faced with a different reality as an adult. After his remarks, he took questions from the audience. His autobiography is titled, Waking from the Dream: My Life in the Black Middle Class. close
