Senator Hatch responded to Senator Torricelli’s decision to not support the Balanced Budget Amendment. He stressed that the Democratic amendments are too flexible and would destroy the existing Republican support for the amendment. He also stated that he and the majority leader would continue to try to garner the necessary 67 votes before the vote on March 4. close
