Attorney General Reno urged the Senate to ratify the Chemical Weapons Convention because it would make acts of international and domestic terrorism much more difficult. She also took questions about this and other issues, especially the appointment of an independent counsel to investigate DNC campaign financing. She stressed that, although the Justice Department investigative task force is expanding, there is not yet sufficient evidence against any high-ranking officials to invoke the independent counsel statute. close
