Justice Thomas talked about the importance of civility in the legal profession and in public discourse. He said he was concerned about the problem and said that unless citizens became more civil, society would continue to erode and not function properly. Justice Thomas pointed to professional sports and the “excessive showboating” that accompanies successful plays in sport and said it reflects society as a whole. Following his prepared remarks, Justice Thomas answered questions from the audience. close
