Mr. Olson summarized the main arguments in his book, The Excuse Factory. He stressed that anti-discrimination laws protect many unsatisfactory employees at the expense of productivity and other employees. Ms. Silberman, who worked for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, then commented on the book. She highlighted her areas of agreement with Mr. Olson and areas which she thought he could have pursued more completely. They also took questions from the audience. close
