By voice vote the Senate passed H.R. 2883, making appropriations for the Department of Agriculture. The bill would continue loan programs for rural development and increase funding for a number of food and nutrition programs. The Senate also passed H.R. 2696, making appropriations for energy and water development for FY90. Among the items funded was the multi-billion dollar superconducting supercollider (SSC) project. Debate continued on H.R. 2788, the national defense bill. close
