Panelists discussed how Watergate changed the way journalists cover news events, especially investigative journalists. They examined the positive and negative impact of Watergate, including the more skeptical attitude toward national leaders and the rise of overly scrutinizing, “gotcha,” journalism. The panel was part of a symposium in honor of the 25th anniversary of the break in at the Watergate Hotel. They responded to questions and comments submitted by mail and members of the audience. close
