Telephone lines were open for viewer comments on the evening of the Maine, Nevada, North Dakota, South Carolina, and Virginia primaries. The focus was on the Republican primary for the Virginia 7th Congressional District where House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) unexpectedly lost his primary. It was the first time a House majority leader had ever lost a primary election. His concession speech was shown.

Bob Cusack, Jeff Schapiro, Steven Shepard, and Alex Roarty spoke by telephone about the effect of House Majority Leader Cantor’s defeat on plans for the Republican House leadership, the reasons for his loss, and contrasted the victory of Senator Lindsay Graham in his South Carolina Republican primary.

A portion of a WTVR (Richmond, VA) news cast was shown that included scenes, speeches, and interviews from the campaign night events of both candidates as well as political analysis.

Laura Vozzella reported by telephone about immigration protestors at the Cantor campaign event. close
