Attorney Stephen Halbrook expressed his gratitude for the Supreme Court’s decision to declare the background check requirement portion of the Brady law unconstitutional by 5-4 vote. He stressed that the federal government cannot require state and local governments to perform background checks on persons who want to purchase handguns. Mr. Halbrook argued before the Supreme Court on behalf of two sheriffs who challenged parts of the Brady law. close
