Vice President Gore spoke to an annual conference of Hispanic leaders from around the nation. He talked about the contributions of Hispanics, both to the economic growth of the past five years, and to Congress. He also stressed that diversity and immigration make the United States unique and challenged those who would separated citizens on the basis of ethnic backgroud. He also noted that Hispanics are still not benefitting as much as they should from economic growth and that the federal government should help empower them to do so. close
