Following President Obama’s announcement of the U.S. response to violence in Iraq, telephone lines were open for viewer comments. Live scenes and replays were shown outside the Longworth Meeting Room, where House Republican leadership elections were taking place. A replacement was being elected for Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), who lost his primary election, and possibly a new majority whip if the current whip would win that election.

An interview about the election from earlier in the day with National Journal correspondent Tim Alberta was shown. close
