Senate Minority Leader Senator Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota) and Senator Russ Feingold (D-Wisconsin) briefed reporters on campaign finance reform. They stressed that the McCain-Feingold bill should be debated in the Senate and that they believe opponents will not filibuster it. They also said that all 45 Democrats were ready to pass the bill today in its current form and that they were still looking for two more Republicans to give them the necessary fifty votes, which could be augmented by Vice President Gore if necessary. close
