Arthur Schlesinger talked about democracy in modern America following an introduction by former Prime Minister Thatcher, who talked about her admiration for Mr. Schlesinger’s writings. Mr. Schlesinger discussed the optimism at the turn of the 20th century and how the century turned into a “century of hate, irrationality and atrocity.” Following his remarks, Mr. Seitz and Mr. Starr spoke briefly. close
