James Billington announced plans to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Library of Congress, which occurred April 24, 2000. He said the celebration would entail the support and ideas of many different groups including Congress, the White House and the Madison Group, the library’s private booster. Following his remarks, Billington, along with John Cole and Carol Henderson, answered questions from the press. close
