Former government officials staged a mock session of a White House National Security Council meeting. The session dealt with an upcoming domestic U.S.-China summit. Winston Lord chaired the meeting in the role of the White House National Security Adviser. John Deutch and George Stephanopoulos appeared in their former roles as Director of Central Intelligence and White House Political Director, respectively. Tom Donilon was the Secretary of State and Jamie Gorelick was Secretary of Defense. Ellen Frost was U.S. Trade Representative. During the meeting, the participants argued their positions and engaged in exchanges with the others that were both good-natured and pointed. close
