Moderated by association chairman Doyle, panelists testified about

the ways in which state attorneys general could anticipate the

upcoming challenges of fraudulent practices as electric utilities are

deregulated. They covered issues such as the current state of

competition in the industry, protection for consumers and businesses

from deceptive advertising and scam artists, and promotion of

competition. They also discussed current federal initiatives and

their effects on state regulations. Following their prepared

remarks, the panelists took questions from the audience. The

question-and-answer session was continued after a break. close
