Panelists discussed the changing nature of competition within the energy industry. They discussed whether independent system operators, which are voluntary associations of energy marketers and suppliers to better manage energy transmission, are the proper mechanism to promote competition in the industry and the proper role of such alliances in overall competition in the industry. They also took questions from some of the attorneys general on the panel. This was part of a symposium on deregulation of the utility industry. close
