This was the first of three national town hall meetings, all part of the president’s initiative on race. During his opening remarks, he outlined a plan to create educational opportunity zones, which would reward school districts for closing down failing schools and getting parents more involved in education. He also took comments from 67 local residents, including students, businesspersons and scholars. close
