Lew Ketcham interviewed Steve Nevas about the Supreme Court case “Michigan Citizens v. Thornburgh.” This addressed a joint operating agreement between two newspapers in Detroit. In order to qualify for an exemption from anti-trust laws, the businesses must be otherwise “failing". The footage was shown, including interviews with Mr. Snyder, Mr. Garcia, Mr. Webster, Mr. Benson, and Ms. Fulson. Previews of the next week’s cases were given. "Oregon v. Smith” is a freedom of religion matter. “Baltimore v. Bouknight” examined the right to protection from self-incrimination. The issue of flag burning was also raised, with footage shown of a recent demonstration at the Court building. close
