Senator Cruz (R-TX) is asked if there would be any information from Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's testimony that would impel him to vote against confirming Judge Kavanaugh as the next Supreme Court justice. Senator Cruz replies, "absolutely", and he says he hopes she testifies, because her allegations are serious and deserve to be treated with respect. He also says Judge Kavanaugh deserves the opportunity to defend himself. Representative Beto O'Rourke (D-TX) believes Mr. Cruz has a "troubling history" in regards to judicial nominees and that "Dr. Ford's allegations should be investigated by the FBI." Also, Mr. O'Rourke says "Judge Kavanaugh does not meet the bar for Texas to serve on the Supreme Court", citing his record on voter turnout, abortion and civil rights. close
