Golovin noted that since abandoning its Bretton Woods obligation to back the U.S. Dollar with gold, the dollar has been essentially backed by agreements (militarily enforced) that all OPEC oil is priced/sold only in U.S. Dollars. Iraq broke with that deal by selling its oil for Euros prior to the 2003 U.S. invasion. Before assassination, Muammar Gaddafi intended to begin conducting his nation's oil transactions using only newly minted Libyan "gold dinar" coins, rather than irredeemable U.S. Dollars. Brigadier General Thomas Harris served on the military commission that investigated and prosecuted conspirators in Lincoln's assassination. In 1897, he published "Rome's Responsibility for the Assassination of Abraham Lincoln," in which he assigned ultimate responsibility for Lincoln's murder to the hierarchy - including the Jesuit (military) Order - of the Roman Catholic Church.
