    White House Briefing

    White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany held a briefing with reporters to discuss several topics. These included President Trump’s candidates to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Senate confirmation process, coronavirus deaths, and the president’s speech to the United Nations. Lieutenant General Kieth Kellogg, the vice president’s national security adviser, also attended the briefing and spoke about why he fired Olivia Troye, a former aide to Vice President Mike Pence on the Coronavirus Task Force.

    White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany held a briefing where she fielded questions on a variety of topics. When asked about the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Robert Redfield’s testimony where he said the COVID-19 vaccine would not be widely available until the end of summer or fall of 2021 she said, “we do believe it will be widely available by the end of the year.” She also took questions about the president’s recent comments on wearing masks, the possibility of the White House releasing a healthcare plan and ongoing negotiations for COVID-19 relief funding.

    VA MISSION Act of 2018 Bill Signing

    President Trump signed the VA Maintaining Systems and Strengthening Integrated Outside Networks (MISSION) Act. The bill extends the Veterans Affairs' Choice Program for one year while the department works to consolidate its seven community care programs into one. A number of Republican lawmakers were in attendance at the Rose Garden ceremony. Before signing the bill, President Trump thanked those lawmakers for their support of the legislation and talked about recently-released unemployment numbers.

    President Trump Remarks at Veterans Affairs Department

    President Trump signed an executive order to establish an accountability and whistleblower protection office at the Veterans Affairs Department. The president called on Congress to give the VA secretary the authority to hold employees accountable for how they treat veterans. In addition, he said huge strides have already been made to improve VA services but much work lies ahead. Vice President Mike Pence and Veterans Affairs Secretary Dr. David Shulkin also delivered remarks.

She addressed the police involved shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black man, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. She also spoke about President Trump’s failure to lead during the pandemic.
