President Obama spoke about the United Kingdom’s decision to leave the European Union. He said he was “confident” the U.K. would have an orderly transition from its membership in the EU, and that the U.S.-U.K. relationship would endure. Following his speech, the president led a panel discussion with young entrepreneurs, including Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, on how governments can foster innovation and help future business leaders.

This event, the 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Summit, was hosted by the White House and the Department of State in partnership with Stanford University.

President Obama spoke to reporters about and answered their questions on the Supreme Court’s 4-4 ruling in U.S. v. Texas, which upheld a lower court’s injunction against the Obama administration’s deferred-action immigration policy. The president said the decision had less of an impact than it would have if the court had a ninth member confirmed by the Senate. He also said the Republican Party’s strategy on immigration would be “broken” by the upcoming election.

President Obama signed into law H.R. 2576, the “Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act,” which modernizes the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act. In remarks, President Obama said that the bill was proof Congress could function even in the current polarized political climate.
