    Secretary DeVos Remarks at Kennedy School of Government

    Education Secretary Betsy DeVos made remarks on education. Several students in the audience silently protested her appearance by raising their fists, snapping fingers, and holding up banners. In her speech the secretary discussed school choice and the importance of giving parents more high-quality and alternative education options. Following her remarks, she was interviewed Professor Paul Peterson and later took questions from the audience.

    Conservative scholar Charles Kesler spoke about his thoughts on the Obama presidency and what he deemed were the “fatal contradictions” of liberalism. He talked about the history of modern liberal thought, progressive politics in America, and the ways in which liberal and conservative reform movements had advanced their causes. His remarks were made at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C.

    Diana Furchtgott-Roth talked about he book, Regulating to Disaster: How Green Jobs Policies Are Damaging America’s Economy, in which she takes a critical look at President Obama’s “green jobs” initiative and argues that it hurt the economy. This event was hosted by the Manhattan Institute in New York City.
