    The Libertarian Party selected its 2016 presidential nominee at its national convention in Orlando, Florida. Gary Johnson, who won the party’s nomination in the second round of voting with 55.8 percent of the ballots, gave his acceptance speech. This portion of the day’s agenda also included speeches from various Libertarian Party candidates from around the nation.

    Libertarian Party presidential candidates debated a number of issues at the party’s presidential nominating convention. Topics included gun control, abortion, the legalization of drugs, immigration, the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, and the government’s role in education. The candidates, who were selected by the convention attendees, were the party’s 2012 nominee, former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, Austin Petersen, Darryl Perry, John McAfee, and Dr. Marc Allan Feldman. The debate was moderated by talk show host Larry Elder.

    After the debate the candidates were heard mingling with the crowd and Darryl Perry talking to the press.

He also spoke about the alliance between the U.S. and Japan and about stopping the spread of nuclear weapons around the world. He concluded by saying the world needed to change its mindset about war and work toward peaceful cooperation. President Obama was the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima, site of the first U.S. nuclear attack in 1945.

Asit would be his last press briefing from Iraq, Colonel Warren was also acknowledged for his service.

    2016 Hurricane Season Outlook

    The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) briefed reporters on the 2016 hurricane season outlook. They predicted the 2016 Atlantic hurricane season, which runs from June through November, would most likely be “near normal.” Their data predicted a 70 percent likelihood of 10 to 16 storms of which four to eight would become hurricanes, and one to four would likely become major hurricanes. The briefing was held at the at the NOAA Satellite Operations Facility in Suitland, Maryland.
