In his book, the author reports that President Eisenhower, maddened by Senator McCarthy’s allegations that the U.S. Army harbored communists, launched a secret initiative to discredit the Senator.

    Professor Tom Nichols talked about his book The Death of Expertise: The Campaign Against Established Knowledge and Why it Matters, in which he argues that due to the spread of the internet and 24-hour news everyone feels like they know everything. As a result, the opinions of experts are being discounted or ignored on many important issues. Professor Nichols said that this is a dangerous development that threatens our democracy.
