    Conduct of IRS Commissioner John Koskinen

    The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee met to consider and mark up legislation to censure Internal Revenue Service Commissioner John Koskinen for his conduct during the investigation into the IRS' alleged targeting of conservative groups seeking tax exempt status. Committee Chair Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) said the resolution was necessary because Commissioner Koskinen did not fully comply with a congressional subpoena or testify truthfully before Congress. The censure resolution calls for Mr. Koskinen’s resignation and the forfeiture of his federal pension. The committee voted 23-15 to pass the censure resolution and report it favorably to the House floor.

Mr. Jarvis addressed the allegations and discussed his department’s efforts to prevent sexual harassment. Committee members accused Mr. Jarvis of not taking appropriate action on numerous sexual harassment claims. The Interior Department’s deputy solicitor general also appeared at the hearing.
