Lectures in History: Lincoln, Race & Emancipation - Saturday 8pm & Midnight ET

Anderson University professor Brian Dirck considers Abraham Lincoln's life to understand the views of white Americans on race and slavery both before and during the Civil War. He argues that prior to his presidency, Lincoln was a "typical American" and uses Lincoln's interactions with both slaves and white supremacists to shed light on how race relations changed during the Civil War era.

1915 San Francisco World's Fair - Saturday 9:10pm ET

The 1915 World's Fair -- officially known as the Panama-Pacific International Exposition - was held a century ago in San Francisco. The fair was a celebration of the Panama Canal's 1914 completion, and was also seen as a way for the city to showcase its recovery from the deadly 1906 earthquake. In this program hosted by the California Historical Society, author Laura Ackley discusses the fair and illustrates some of the inventions that were exhibited that year.
