Saturday 8pm ET
Tet Offensive
The Vietnam War's Tet Offensive started 50 years ago on January 30, 1968, with Viet Cong and North Vietnamese forces attacking more than 100 cities, towns and outposts across a broad swath of South Vietnam during the Vietnamese New Year holiday known as Tet. Some of the most intense fighting of the campaign took place during the Battle of Hue. American History TV airs a series of programs marking the anniversary, including:
--Reel America: Saigon - Target Zero, a film shot and edited by South Vietnamese armed forces, who documented their efforts to kill and capture Viet Cong guerillas and to protect civilians and restore order in the capital city.
--Mark Bowden, author of "Hue 1968: A Turning Point of the American War in Vietnam" joins former Stars & Stripes photographer John Olson, whose photos taken during the Battle of Hue make up a new exhibit at the Newseum in Washington, DC. We'll also hear from three Vietnam Veterans and former U.S. Marines who fought in Hue during the Tet Offensive.

Saturday 10pm & Sunday 4pm ET
West Point Center for Oral History
This weekend, we begin a new series of oral history interviews conducted by the West Point Center for Oral History. We hear first about the collection from the center's executive director, Lt. Col. David Siry. That's followed by an oral history interview with U.S. Military Academy graduate Stephen Darrah, who served as a helicopter pilot during the Vietnam War. Mr. Darrah describes his time as a West Point cadet, his decision to switch from infantry to aviation, and his experiences flying through heavy anti-aircraft fire in Vietnam's A Shau Valley in 1968.

Sunday 12 noon & 11pm ET
State of the Union
Two days before President Trump delivers his first State of the Union speech, American History TV shows a selection of past presidents addressing a Joint Session of Congress following their first year in office. We'll hear from President Ronald Reagan in 1982, President Bill Clinton in 1994, President George H.W. Bush in 1990, and President Barack Obama in 2010.

Sunday 6pm & 10pm ET

Wake Forest University Art & Film History professor David Lubin shares images from his book, "Grand Illusions: American Art & the First World War."
