Reel America: "Desert Venture" - 1948
Recent missile attacks on Saudi Arabian oil processing facilities initially disrupted more than half of the kingdom's crude oil output. According to the Washington Post, that's about six percent of the global supply. This documentary on the origins of the Saudi Arabian oil industry was produced by Standard Oil Company of California, now Chevron Corporation. It shows their oil exploration and well-drilling efforts from 1932 until about 1948.

Sunday 6pm & 10pm ET
American Artifacts: "Votes for Women" Exhibit
We visit the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery for a tour of their exhibit marking the 19th Amendment centennial. Using images of early suffrage leaders, historian Kate Clarke Lemay shows how the women's campaign intersected with the abolitionist and temperance movements.

Sunday 6:30pm & 10:30pm ET
American Democracy
The Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education hosts Sophia Rosenfeld, author of "Democracy and Truth: A Short History." She talks about the long-held tensions among citizens in a democracy to determine what the truth is -- rather than relying on an elite class to determine the truth for them.
