John F. Kennedy Assassination & Warren Commission Report
President Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas. A week later, President Lyndon Johnson appointed Supreme Court Chief Justice Earl Warren to lead a commission to investigate. Philip Shenon, author of "A Cruel and Shocking Act: The Secret History of the Kennedy Assassination," appears in the original Warren Commission conference room on Capitol Hill to discuss key artifacts and lingering controversies surrounding the report.

Three women, including former Johnson Space Center mission control engineer Frances "Poppy" Northcutt, reflect on their experiences working on the Apollo space program, sharing how they overcame challenges and their roles with NASA.

Margaret Leslie Davis reveals first lady Jacqueline Kennedy's political and diplomatic coup in bringing the Mona Lisa to the United States despite opposition on both sides of the Atlantic. Leonardo da Vinci's famed painting was seen as a symbol of the free world at the height of Cold War tensions, and President Kennedy used its exhibition to promote American relations with France and democracy itself. Ms. Davis is the author of "Mona Lisa in Camelot: How Jacqueline Kennedy & Da Vinci's Masterpiece Charmed & Cultivated a Nation."

Two best-selling authors discuss how they use historical research in their work. Novelist Kathleen Rooney's latest is the World War I story "Cher Ami and Major Whittlesey" and Miles Harvey focuses on his new nonfiction book "The King of Confidence." DePaul University history professor Amy Tyson moderates the conversation. Authors Rooney and Harvey both teach in DePaul's English department, and the university's History and English departments co-hosted this event.
