Bell Ringer: The Amish and Education

Amish Education

Why don't the Amish go to school past the eighth grade?

Description

Amish communities are exempt from federal laws requiring children to attend school until they reach a certain age. The Amish provide schooling until the eighth grade, after which point youth begin learning a vocation and/or working full time.
