Video Clip: House Passes Bill Restoring Parts of the Voting Rights Act


With a vote of 228-187, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 4, the Voting Rights Advancement Act, which restores provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 which were struck down in Shelby County v. Holder. Prior to its passage in the House, the bill's sponsor, Rep. Terri Sewell (D-AL) spoke about the need for the legislation on the House floor.
