Michael Hall gave a tour of the the National Atomic Testing Museum and spoke about the Nevada Test Site, a U.S. Department of Energy location 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas. The site was established in 1951 for the testing of nuclear devices. During the 1950s, mushroom clouds from the atmospheric nuclear tests could be seen for 100 miles. Testing at the location stopped in 1992.
