President Abraham Lincoln died at 7:22am on April 15, 1865, in the small, back bedroom of the Petersen House, just across the street from Ford's Theatre where he had been shot and mortally wounded while watching a performance of Our American Cousin at Ford's Theater in Washington the previous evening.
