On This Day: Branch Davidian Standoff

On February 28, 1993, just outside of Waco, TX, local and national law enforcement arrived at the Branch Davidian compound at Mt. Carmel with a warrant to search the facility for illegal weapons. Upon their arrival, they engaged in a firefight with the Branch Davidians. 76 people inside the compound were killed that day, including the group's leader, David Koresh. Several law enforcement officers also died and others were injured.
