Andrew and Abby Borden were murdered with a hatchet in their home in Fall River, MA on Thursday, August 4, 1892. This incident drew attention throughout the country. Subsequent investigations led authorities to believe that Andrew's daughter Lizzie Borden committed this act. Lizzie's case went to trial and she was ultimately acquitted of the crime on June 20, 1893.
