On This Day: Arlington National Cemetery

On May 13, 1864, the first soldier was buried at Arlington National Cemetery. Arlington National Cemetery was established on the estate of Confederate general Robert E. Lee in Arlington, VA. As a way to honor those who served, the cemetery currently serves as the final resting place for active duty service members, veterans and their families.
