The House voted to override the president’s veto of H.R. 20, to amend Title 5, United States Code (the Hatch Act), concerning the participation of federal civilian employees in the political processes of the nation. The House completed all general debate and began reading for amendments on H.R. 5021, making appropriations for the Departments of Commerce, Justice, and State, but came to no resolution.
Republicans held an all-night special order on crime and drugs.
