House Session - January 10, 1991

Representatives Guarini (D-NJ) and Chapman (D-TX) were sworn into office by the Speaker of the House. The Speaker appointed Representatives Gephardt (D-MO) and Michel (R-IL) as members of the House Office Building Commission. The House agreed to H.Res. 27, a Rule providing for debate and consideration of resolutions on the situation in the Persian Gulf. H.Res. 27 resolved for it to be in order to recognize the majority leader and the minority leader, or their designees, for a period of twelve hours, equally divided and controlled, to debate the situation in the Middle East. After the conclusion of the general debate, H.Res. 27 allowed for consideration of three concurrent resolutions, sponsored by Representatives Durbin (D-IL) and Bennett (D-FL), Representatives Hamilton (D-IN) and Gephardt (D-MO) , and Representative Michel (R-IL).
