On this day the House continued debate on the funding of two economic development agencies. The bill includes almost $925 million to fund the Economic Development Administration for the next three years. The EDA provides aid to the nations economically distressed areas. The bill also authorizes $677 million for the Appalachian Regional Commission, which helps alleviate poverty in distressed areas of Appalachia by building roads and sewer systems.
