Senate Passes Foreign Aid Package 79-18
House Session - May 1, 1996

The House met to debate on the Ocean Shipping Reform Act and funding for the U.S. Marshalls Service. The session began with One-Minute speeches on a variety of issues, then debated the battery recycling legislation and voted on the Journal, the official record of the day’s proceedings. Afterward, a debate ensued on the U.S. Marshalls Service. This bill would require the Justice Department to appoint marshals using federal service rules. Then debate on raising the minimum wage began while considering the rule which governs the procedure for debate on this bill, including amendments. After that vote, a debate began on Ocean Shipping regulation and HIV & AIDs programs. Afterward, members continued with Special Order speeches.
