Subsequently, then rejected the Lowey motion to instruct conferees, on the same bill, to disagree with provisions which deny the President’s request for dedicated resources to reduce class sizes in the early grades and for local school construction and instead broadly expands the title VI Education Block Grant with limited accountability in the use of funds by D1147a yea and nay vote of 150 yeas to 159 nays, Roll No. 573.
