Senate Passes Foreign Aid Package 79-18
House Session - January 18, 2007

The House passed a bill that ends some tax breaks for oil and gas companies and dedicates revenue to renewable energy research. The measure was the sixth of the Democratic leadership’s priorities since taking control of the House earlier in the month. In recent weeks, the House had passed bills to implement some 9/11 Commission recommendations, raise the minimum wage by $2.10, lift some stem cell restrictions, require Medicare drug negotiations, and lower student loan rates.
